There are many Commercial and Industrial applications where
artificially controlled humidity levels can provide a significant
improvement to the overall operation. By specifically setting and
maintaining humidity, temperature and air exchange standards for the
operation, overall profitability is enhanced. For these specific
situations, ColdMist systems provide the ideal solution.

-
Ensures proper EMC (Equilibrium Moisture Content) levels
-
Reduces static electricity
-
Maintains ideal moisture content and reduces wastage (especially in fresh produce packing areas)
-
Maximises product stability and handling
-
Reduces the incidence of dust fires
-
Reduces evaporation
-
In greenhouses, humidification promotes faster growth, increases yields, improves quality of the crop and reduces diseases.
Industries that benefit include:

Professional
growers know that it is vital to monitor and control all environmental
factors that can affect their crops. Critical environmental factors
influencing crop growth are optimum humidity levels, maximum light
levels, ideal temperatures and reduced disease rates !
Humidification in Greenhouses provides the following solutions:
-
Increased productivity with more usable plugs and seedlings per crop
-
Increased germination – test results show up to 98% germination after
3 to 4 days using the ColdMist fogging systems
-
Reduced stress on young plants by eliminating excesses in temperature and humidity
-
Overall improvements in plant quality and uniformity

In wine storage applications, increasing the relative humidity can
dramatically reduce the evaporation of wine through the oak barrels. By
effectively maintaining ideal humidity levels, the required ‘topping’
process and its associated expense can be virtually eliminated. This
not only saves time & money for the winery, but also provides for a
more consistent and higher quality product!

As paper products can readily gain and lose moisture, a constantly
controlled humidity level is critical to consistent and improved
quality in the end product.
Other production related advantages that
result from properly controlled humidity levels include :
-
elimination of static electricity
-
decreased curling and warping
-
improved flexibility and dimensional stability
-
better ink transfer
-
significant reductions in airborne dust particles
-
resultant evaporative cooling

Maintaining the Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) in the woodworking
industry is a KEY factor to improving both the quality and operation of
the products produced. The EMC is the moisture content within the wood
fibers where moisture is neither gained nor lost. Maintaining a stable
EMC prevents undue stress and dimensional changes to the wood. This
will result in both higher quality products as well as higher profit
margins.
It is generally accepted that the ideal EMC for wood products is
between 6% and 11%, depending on geographic location and climate
conditions. To accomplish this, humidity levels of 25% to 50% need to
be achieved and controlled. As wood becomes dimensionally stable at its
fiber saturation point; preventing it from decreasing or increasing
beyond that level will help eliminate shrinking, swelling, warping,
splitting and cracking !

Properly maintained humidity levels, usually between 50% and 65%, will
result in improved quality and minimal downtime or rejections. This is
possible because ideal humidity levels will actually increase the
tensile strength of all natural fibers. Enhanced production capacity
and reduced waste creates a more profitable operation.
As a bonus, static electricity can be removed making the yarn more
workable and controllable resulting in less yarn separation. It also
controls ‘cotton fly’ and residual airborne lint.
